Aculeus III, longsword, 15thC.
'ACULEUS' in latin means: a spike / thorn or sting.
I have called this sword like that because it is light and quick, it has narrow tip and in my opinion is very good for longsword fencing practice. Design, typology and parameters are based on and inspired by many original examples from first half of 15th century original longswords. We easly find them in European museums. I have already made around 20 similar designed swords, variations, searching best solutions according to medieval sources and purposes. That one reflects my observations, conclusions about functionality and style of the longsword as a tool of war for a skilled warrior.
As I am also a fencer - must admit that practice with this one is a real pleasure.
