Aculeus is my 'open design' which is characterized by a blade from the period 1380-1430, small size and extremely light weight combined with a balance close to the crossguard. Aculeus is my 'open design' which is characterized by a blade from the period 1380-1430, small size and extremely light weight combined with a balance close to the crossguard. The blade is a type XVIa variant, perfectly adapted to stabbing and fast fencing techniques. But it is rather an 'urban' sword, for a nobleman, to be worn on any occasion. This particular sword is so light (1170g) that it can be easily used with one hand or, if necessary, with two. It is also not too long (1080mm), which makes it an agile and universal weapon. In this project I made a round pommel in the late type, with concave fields.
