Classic Type XII Sword, 13thC
Classic one handed sword, 13th century, inspired by original examples and historical sources.
Dark brown grip color.
Swords of this type, proportions and style can be found throughout almost all of Europe in the 13th century. It was inspired by a large number of examples of 13th century museum examples and art (e.g. statues from Naumburg, tombstones of princes in Poland, etc.).
But also original swords from museums in Germany, France, Poland and the Czech Republic. This is a very popular type, both Oakeshott Type XII blades, Brass Pommel Type I, and Crossguard Type 2 are widely represented in European museums and in iconography. The dating of this classical type leaves no doubt.
Such swords were very popular in the 13th century and still in the firsthalf of the 14th century, alongside other, newer types.
