Custom Passau Longsword with inserts
Custom Passau Longsword with inserts, late 14th century, inspired by original examples and historical sources. Dark brown grip color.
The perfect representation for this group of swords with some custom add-ons: large size, massive blade, reinforced with the hexagonal cross-section, thick octagonal crossguard with flared ends, round pommel with brass inlays (traditional repousse technique, eagle and heraldic dragon emblems), steel peen-block. This is an example representing a truly large group of 14th century swords. This weight range is typical for this group of swords. They often weighed almost 2 kg or more. This was caused by a thick, wide blade with a reinforced cross-section. In this case, we have a sword with average parameters in this group, which may date it to the years 1350-1400. A very good heavy longsword with excellent handling ensuring full control of the blade.
