Heavy Longsword with inlaid pommel
Heavy Longsword, late 14th century, inspired by original examples and historical sources. Dark brown grip color.
This is a very interesting sword. The wide blade is inspired by many examples from European museums, mainly from Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. The straight blade has a wide fuller and ridge. Its size resembles Passau swords, but it may come from Hungarian workshops or others from this part of the continent. What attracts attention is the characteristic tip, which appears to be beveled. This type of tip is found on many swords of similar size, which can be interpreted as being intended for powerful, heavy cuts. The tip is cut into a fairly flat triangle, and the blade is straight almost to the very end. Because of this, it may sometimes be associated (wrongly) with executioner's swords.
In addition, the sword has a hilt designed for two hands, a simple crossguard and a pommel with crosses, inlaid with a traditional method.
This is an interesting example of a blade type that is not currently reconstructed, perhaps due to modern aesthetic preferences or poor knowledge of these types today.
