Lionheart II, 12thC
Lionheart sword, custom project, 12th century, inspired by original examples and historical sources.
Aged brown grip color, brazil-nut pommel type.
This design, of course, refers to the famous King of England, Richard the Lionheart (September 8, 1157 – April 6, 1199). This is an old design that was developed based on the oldest images of the king and original swords from that period. However, it has many features that make it very specific, which would suit the owner himself (hypothetically, of course). It is therefore a powerful sword, for a strong and determined knight on horseback. A nobleman who participates in battle and for whom fighting is his element. Provides cutting power from the shoulder, the blade is wide and long. Pommel refers to swords from the period 1100-1200, it is massive, somewhat similar to the sword of Saint Maurice of Turin, which, despite its classic appearance, has many unusual features, which was the inspiration for this design. In my opinion, after many considerations and research, it seems to be a realistic project, with its own character and could be a historical reconstruction of this specific weapon from the 12th century.
What are the differences between this sword and the first version: the design is very similar, but historically improved. Also, the parameters of the sword are more closely based on the original examples, the sword has a better weight, is lighter and has better finished details. It is also slightly longer, as a sword for a rider. At the same time, I kept the same balance point, which overall added dynamics to the sword.
