Longsword, late 13thC.
The sword is in German type, based on original from British Museum and Musee de l`Armee (comparision on the photos).
Early longsword type is a very popular weapon in 13th-14th century in whole Europe. This is very universal weapon. The lenght range of these sword was around 100-113cm and characteristic feature is longer grip for second hand. These swords were simple but very effective.
This one has also interesting cross-section of the blade - very popular at this time - especially for the longswords. Sword is little less weight than some German examples - but still it is not light - and this can provide the power for cutting. In my opinion also very good handling with both hands, make this one very good for training - and helpfull for understanding medieval techniques. I was using this sword also with one hand with good result. But I think it is definitely designed for both hands.
