Norman Sword with beasts heads crossguard
Norman Sword with beasts heads crossguard.
The sword is of the Norman type, Brazilian nut pommel, one-handed.
The handle is covered with brown leather and has 5 risers.
Crossguard and pommel richly decorated.
There are inscriptions on the blade made in metal, in the style and form of the 10th-12th century:
+MACIEIMEFECIT+
+CORAMDEOCUNCTISAEQUALIA+
while maintaining the form of lettering and composition consistent with a given period.
Sculpture and engraving work by master Jacek Jankowski.
The artist did a beautiful and precise job with the heads of the beasts, which feature inlaid golden eyes. The brass pommel is richly engraved with motifs and decorations stylistically reminiscent of Romanesque art from the 11th and 12th centuries. On one side there is a Jerusalem cross and on the other there is a dragon.
