Protector V, longsword, 14thC
PROTECTOR V
14th century European Longsword, inspired by many of original swords mostly from Germany and Poland.
What is 'Protector Longsword Project'?
This is my personal original project, constantly improved through testing and analysis of original swords. The base and starting point for this project is, for main parameters: total length between approx. 1120 and 1180mm, weight range 1300-1500g and for types: blade Oakeshott Type XVIa, crossguard Type 2/5, pommelType I/J.
The name 'Protector' in Latin means 'Defender'.
This is redisigned and improved version of my project 'Protector'.
Mostly it`s about blade type and mass distribution. That makes the sword more practical and versatile weapon, in my honest opinion.
It`s also about some details of the crossguard type, also common for this group of original swords.
Characteristics and handling
Blade of this sword is stiff and thick, it is very good for both: cutting and thrusting. Handling is simply perfect for this type: comfortable and smooth moves, sword is agile and quick, well balanced, easy to perform fencing techniques. It can be used as well with two hands as with only one hand.
Very good longsword and practical in my opinion. No unnecessary embellishments and decorations, only a pure form of a combat weapon.
