Swietokrzyskie Mt sword, 12/13thC.
Late 12th/early 13th century, early longsword.
Based on original sword found in Swietokrzyskie Mountains, Poland.
This is an interesting type of sword - earliest version of longsword with longer grip for 2 or 3 additional fingers.
Blade is very wide as well as the fuller. We know some few similar examples with close proportions and parameters. It is dated to second half of 12th century by prof. M. Głosek, but it could be also little later, maybe early 13th...
Measurements:
Length 1015mm
Blade length 830mm
Blade width 60mm
Grip 130mm
Crossguard 165mm
Pommel 53x49x34mm
Balance ca. 115mm
Weight ca. 1350g
(BTW - the blade and overall proportions are very close my 'Lionheart' sword - also dated to second half of 12th century... )
